Privacy Policy

This policy covers bayfrontcontracting.com, operated by Bayfront Contracting (Bayfront ADU) (CSLB #1131251), an ADU builder serving Santa Clara and San Benito counties, California. It describes what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. We have tried to write it in plain English and to describe what the site actually does rather than everything a website could conceivably do.

What we collect, and where from

We only collect information you choose to give us. There are four places you can do that:

• The feasibility / site walk request form. Your name, email, phone number, the property address or city, the type of project, and anything you write in the message field.
• The Keyli chat assistant. The messages you send, and anything you volunteer inside them. If you share contact details and ask us to follow up, or ask Keyli to email you a summary of the conversation, we keep those details as an enquiry.
• The feasibility calculator. If you ask for the full breakdown, we collect your name, email, an optional phone number, and the settings you chose in the calculator, so we can send you the copy and understand what you were looking at.
• Text message consent. Your name, mobile number, email, the exact consent wording you saw, the page you were on, and the time, whenever you tick the SMS box on our text-updates form, estimate form, calculator or address lookup.

Automatically, we also record technical information with each submission: a one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself), your browser's user-agent string, and the page you were on. The hash lets us spot abuse and rate-limit without storing where you connect from.

The Keyli chat, specifically

Keyli is an AI assistant, not a person. It is clearly labelled as such throughout the site. Some things worth knowing:

• Your messages are sent to a third-party AI provider to generate a reply. Do not put sensitive personal information into the chat — financial account details, government ID numbers, health information, or anything you would not put in an ordinary email.
• Conversations are stored so we can follow up on genuine enquiries and improve how the assistant answers.
• Keyli may search public government websites to answer a question about your city's rules. That search contains your question, not your identity.
• Keyli gives general ADU information. It is not legal, engineering, or financial advice, and it does not quote prices. See our Terms.

SMS and messaging consent

We send text messages only to people who have consented by ticking the SMS consent box themselves. The box is unchecked until you tick it, it is optional, and every form submits whether or not it is ticked. The wording is always:

"I agree to receive SMS text messages from Bayfront Contracting (Bayfront ADU) about my ADU inquiry and project. Some replies may be written by Keyli, our AI assistant. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help."

What we send under this consent:

• Replies to questions you have asked us about building an ADU.
• Scheduling and reminders for your free site walk.
• Status updates on your project: permits, inspections, schedule.
• Requests for a document, a decision or a signature we need to keep your project moving.

We do not send marketing texts. Message frequency varies with your project. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop immediately, or HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not affect email, phone, or our work on your project. Full program details are at /sms.

We do not share or sell mobile opt-in information or phone numbers with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. Phone numbers are shared only with the messaging provider that delivers the messages on our behalf.

How we use it

• To answer your question, and to follow up about a project you asked about.
• To send you the document you requested, such as a calculator summary or chat recap.
• To schedule and prepare for a free site walk.
• To keep the site working and to prevent abuse and spam.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising.

Who else touches your information

We use a small number of service providers, each of which only receives what it needs to do its job:

• Our hosting provider — serves the site and stores our database.
• Amazon Web Services (SES) — delivers email we send you.
• Twilio — delivers text messages, where you have opted in.
• Anthropic — the AI provider behind the Keyli assistant.
• Cloudflare Turnstile — where enabled, a bot check on the chat. It is designed not to track people across sites.
• Privacy-focused site analytics, where enabled, which counts page views and events without cookies or cross-site tracking.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.

Cookies

This site does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The chat keeps a short-lived session token in your browser so a conversation survives a page reload, and the bot check may set its own token where enabled.

How long we keep it

Enquiries and project records are kept for as long as we are in contact with you and afterwards for as long as we need them for business and legal record-keeping — for construction work, that period can be several years. Chat conversations that never became an enquiry are kept for a shorter period. You can ask us to delete your information sooner; see below.

Your choices

You can ask us to:

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
• Correct it if it is wrong.
• Delete it, where we are not required to keep it.
• Stop contacting you, by any or all channels.

Email hello@bayfrontcontracting.com or call (650) 555-0142. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these. California residents have specific rights under state privacy law, and we honour the requests above regardless of whether those laws apply to a business our size.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and submissions are stored on access-controlled infrastructure. IP addresses are hashed rather than stored. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise — which is the reason for the advice above about what not to put in the chat.

Children

This site is meant for property owners and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes to how we use information you have already given us will be notified to you directly.
